Title: Efficient Energy‐Based Operator Selection for ADAPT‐VQE
Abstract: Picking the next operator in ADAPT-VQE can be done using energy or gradients. The energy-based approach is usually too expensive for fermionic problems—but we show an exact Hamiltonian transformation that cuts its cost roughly in half, matching gradient-based methods. We then benchmark both approaches on LiH, BeH₂, and H₂O, comparing optimization strategies and orbital treatments. Our results show when energy-based selection is the smart, cheap choice—and when full re-optimization and orbital optimization start to matter.

Title: An Introduction to the Study of Dilute Bose Gases
Abstract: In this talk I will give a brief introduction to the mathematically rigorous study of interacting Dilute Bose Gases. This talk addresses the main questions in this research field, namely proving Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) and studying the ground-state energy (GSE) of such systems, and gives a brief history of known results. I will focus on the problem regarding the universal GSE expansion in terms of the diluteness parameter, give out some heuristics on why the first and the second term in the expansion appear as they are and, time allowing, discuss some techniques that are used in this field to prove such energy expansions.

About the Quantum Research Seminar:

The Quantum Research Seminar (QRS) is a student-led monthly seminar series featuring talks from early career researchers in quantum science at KU. It takes place every second Friday of the month from 12-13 in HCØ. Free lunch is provided.

The goal of the QRS is to bring together the quantum community at KU and provide a space for PhDs and PostDocs to practice presenting their research to a wider audience within quantum sciences.
